Kaziranga National Park

Kaziranga National Park
Kaziranga National Park
You’ve come all the way to this remote corner of the world, why not check out nearby Kaziranga National Park, one of India’s most impressive and off-the-beaten-track game sanctuaries?

Situated in Assam (bordering Arunachal Pradesh to the north) and along the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra river, Kaziranga is famed for it’s fifteen-hundred strong one-horned Rhinoceros, the largest single population on the Indian subcontinent. Dominated by a panoramic sea of ‘elephant’ grass and swampy marshlands, the park also plays home to populations of wild deer, buffalo, elephant, monkey, and the ever elusive tiger. Birdlife includes hornbill, egret, heron and pelican, to name a few. Vast open plains and concentrated grazing areas make wildlife sightings, especially those of the rhinos, remarkably numerous (and when seen from the back of a dawn elephant ride, are sights you won’t soon forget!)

Like most destinations in this little visited part of the country, Kaziranga boasts a laid back, adventurous character. Tourist traffic is considerably low, and developed facilities few. However, an exquisite lodge has been built beside the park boundaries, endorsed by both the World Wildlife Fund and India’s Project Tiger, and from here we’ll pass three nights and two days, utilizing elephant rides and jeep safaris to access the park’s different viewing areas.

If you’re interested in mixing in this equally fascinating wildlife Experience with your tribal Experience, we offer convenient three-day ‘add-ons’. They make a relaxing compliment to the sometimes demanding tribal side of things (you’ll see what we mean after a few days of endlessly staring, curious villagers), and offer an opportunity to see some of the world’s rarest animals in their enchanting natural surroundings.
